Shipping Policy – Fertile Eggs

At Quamby Hollows, we take great care to prepare and package your fertile eggs so they arrive in the best possible condition. However, it is important to understand the risks involved when posting fertile eggs.

Dispatch Days

Orders are shipped on Mondays only to minimise the time eggs spend in transit.

If the Monday falls on a Tasmanian public holiday, eggs will be shipped on the Tuesday. Please note: Tuesday shipping may increase the risk of eggs arriving later in the week, which can affect viability. This risk is accepted by the buyer at the time of purchase.

Packaging

Eggs are individually wrapped and packed in custom-designed packaging to reduce movement and shock.

Despite our best efforts, Australia Post does not provide a “fragile” service, meaning parcels may not always be handled with care.

Delivery Method

All orders are sent by Australia Post Express to give eggs the best chance of arriving quickly.

Tracking details will be provided by email once the order has been dispatched.

Buyer Acknowledgement of Risk

When purchasing posted fertile eggs, buyers acknowledge and accept the following risks:

Transit Damage – Eggs may be damaged, cracked, or experience air sac issues during transport.

Viability Changes – Fertile eggs that were viable at the time of packing can become non-viable due to rough handling, extreme temperatures, or air pressure changes in transit.

Hatch Rates – Hatch rates for posted eggs are always lower than average. A realistic expectation is 1–2 healthy chicks from a dozen, with more considered a bonus.

All-Male Risk – There is always a chance that a hatch could produce mostly or all male chicks. Buyers should have a plan in place for roosters.

No Guarantee Policy

While all eggs are fertility tested and carefully selected before posting, we cannot guarantee hatch rates, fertility, or successful outcomes once the eggs leave our care.

By placing an order, buyers accept that purchasing fertile eggs is a risk similar to a game of chance — sometimes with wonderful results, sometimes with disappointment.

Local Pickup Option

To maximise hatch rates, we recommend farm pickup in Deloraine, Tasmania, where eggs can be collected fresh without the risks of postage.
